This random NHL team generator is a wheel with all 32 NHL teams on it. Spin it when you want chance to choose a team for a hockey video game, a pick for a pool, a team to cheer for tonight or a trivia topic.
Every team is the same size, so each has a 1 in 32 chance on every spin. The Atlantic, Metro and Central buttons load the eight teams in each of those divisions. The Pacific division is in the table below, ready to type in.
For a pick-everyone-once order, turn on "Retire winners". Each team leaves the wheel as it comes up.

Leave all 32 teams on, or tap Atlantic, Metro or Central to spin one division.
Hold, then release
Hold the brass button in the middle and let go to launch the wheel.

The team that stops under the pointer fills the screen. Spin again or remove it.

How many teams are on the wheel?
All 32 NHL teams, in four divisions of eight: Atlantic, Metropolitan, Central and Pacific.
Can I spin only one division?
Yes. Tap Atlantic, Metro or Central for that division's eight teams. For the Pacific division, edit the entries using the table below.
Does every team have the same chance?
Yes. The segments are equal in size, so each team has a 1 in 32 chance on every spin.
Can I pick every team once, with no repeats?
Turn on "Retire winners" in the entries panel. After each result the winning team is removed, so every team comes up once.
Is the team list up to date?
It follows each league's line-up as of 2026. If a team moves or changes its name, type the new name over the old entry.
Are team logos used?
No. The wheel uses team names only.
